(Reuters) - Baltimore County police were negotiating with a soldier who barricaded himself inside a building where weapons are typically kept at a Maryland National Guard property on Monday, authorities said.

The man set off an alarm at about 11 a.m. after walking into the armory, which was otherwise unoccupied, in Glen Arm, about 28 miles northeast of Baltimore, police said.

He was identified only as a soldier and was believed to be unarmed, police said.

The man has not accessed the part of the building that houses the arms cache, which requires a security code to enter, police said.
