Musk has said that their machine, Godot, has begun digging under Los Angeles. "No longer waiting for Godot. It has begun boring and just completed the first segment of tunnel in LA," Musk said. Musk said he has had "promising conversations" with Mayor Eric Garrett. But the company must secure permits to dig beyond the SpaceX parking lot.
