The Dallas Cowboys announced on Saturday that Tony Romo broke a bone in his back when he was tackled from behind in the team's preseason game on Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said (vis ESPN) the team is not ruling out Romo for the season opener in two weeks. However, others are reporting that Romo will miss a significant chunk of the regular season. A source for Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk says Romo is "expected" to miss 6-10 weeks, which would includ the first 4-8 weeks of the regular season. Ian Raport of the NFL Network reports that the "best-case scenario" is Romo will be back "by mid-season." The Cowboys have a bye in Week 7 this season. We will have more on this shortly. |
