NFL MOCK DRAFT: Here is what the experts are predicting for all 32 first-round picks by Scott Davis on Apr 27, 2017, 11:43 AM Advertisement
The NFL Draft is upon us. On Thursday, the first and second rounds of the draft will take place, and as usual, it should be full of suspense, surprises, and the usual chaos as teams scramble to find players to lift their franchises. We went through nine mock drafts from other experts to get a sense of which direction each team might be leaning in the first round (discounting hypothetical trades). Our experts: ESPN's Todd McShay and Mel Kiper, Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke and Emily Kaplan, NFL Network's Lance Zierlein and Daniel Jeremiah, CBS Sports' Rob Rang and Pete Prisco, The Ringer's Danny Kelly, and Pro Football Focus. No. 1 Cleveland Browns — Myles Garrett, DE Experts: 8 of 9 School: Texas A&M Other possibilities: Mitchell Trubisky (QB) Key expert quote: PFF: "Garrett is the top option as he has a perfect blend of production and athleticism ... The Browns can secure a potentially elite edge rusher at No. 1 overall while seeing how the draft plays out as they look to find a quarterback of the future."
No. 2 San Francisco 49ers — Solomon Thomas, DE Experts: 3 of 9 School: Stanford Other possibilities: Marshon Lattimore (CB), Malik Hooker (S), Derek Barnett (DE), Jamal Adams (S), Myles Garrett (DE) Key expert quote: Burke: "Thomas’s inside-outside game would make him a complement for [Arik] Armstead and [DeForest] Buckner, not necessarily a replacement for one. San Francisco would have three versatile, athletic options to plug in at tackle or end."
No. 3 Chicago Bears — Jamal Adams, S Experts: 4 of 9 School: LSU Other possibilities: Marshon Lattimore (CB), Jonathan Allen (DE), Solomon Thomas (DE) Key expert quote: Rang: "Adams ... is viewed by some as the safest prospect in the draft. He is a tone-setter with a rare combination of instincts, athleticism and intangibles to make an immediate impact on a defense that made strides a year ago but allowed 24.9 points per game."
