E-commerce sales are expected to drive US holiday sales in 2019 (November 1-December 31) and Cyber Week is forecast to be a leading factor in online sales performance: |
- E-commerce sales are projected to spike 14.1% annually over the holidays to reach $143.7 billion. This is compared with a 4.0% annual jump for overall retail during the period, which means e-commerce will account for more than 20% of holiday spend, making the digital channel extremely important for retailers that want to rack up sales in Q4.
| - And Cyber Week is set to bring in $29 billion this year — accounting for 20% of all holiday e-commerce sales — so thriving during this period will be key for retailers' holiday performance. US e-commerce sales are growing across the board during Cyber Week: They're set to spike 19.5% year-over-year (YoY) to hit $4.4 billion on Thanksgiving; on Black Friday, they're set to jump 20.3% annually to hit $7.5 billion; and Cyber Monday's sales are projected to rise 18.9% YoY to $9.4 billion. Because of Cyber Week's outsize performance during the holidays, it's important that retailers have promotions and perks specific to each day to best incentivize consumers to shop with them throughout the five-day period.
