Police officer Blane Salamoni of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been fired for shooting to death Alton Sterling, a black man, in a July 2016 confrontation, Police Chief Murphy Paul said on Friday. The second officer involved in the incident, Howie Lake, was suspended for three days. Lake and Salamoni will appeal the decisions made by an administrative review board and upheld by Paul, the chief told a news conference.
