  • Cathay Pacific spelled its own name wrong on the side of one of its planes.
  • The Hong Kong airline missed an "f" from "Pacific," spelling out: "Cathay Paciic."
  • The company joked about it on Twitter, saying: "She's going back to the shop!"

A multi-billion pound airline managed to spell its own name wrong on one of its planes.

Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific missed an "f" from "Pacific," with the livery reading "Cathay Paciic."

The company was able to laugh at itself, though, tweeting: "Oops this special livery won't last long!

"She's going back to the shop!"

Agihad Haloul tweeted back: "No f's were given that day."

Simon Cuthbert said: "I'm sure someone will ix it."

Another user, @telesport7777, offered Cathay Pacific some business advice and said the foul-up should have been kept.

"If this isn't a stunt, why not leave it like that? At least for the entertainment of those on its global flightpath and some adverse free advertising."

The error is likely to cost several thousand pounds to correct, the South China Morning Post reported.

And an engineer for Haeco, a Cathay Pacific sister company, suggested it could have been deliberate, telling the paper: "The spacing is too on-point for a mishap. We have stencils. Should be a blank gap in between letters if it was a real mistake I think."
