Product designer Fiyel Levent repurposed her Queens rowhouse's former dumbwaiter to carve out a teeny desk area. A slim laptop and a wall-mounted screen make the most of the limited footprint, while an overhead cabinet provides extra storage.
In the attic. An office is an ideal fit for a dramatically peaked space like the one found in Tamara Kaye-Honey's California home. It sees mostly stationary goings on by nature. Plus a simple, long desk and chair dictate any physical activity is in the stand-up-safe center.
In the closet. It's a lot to ask a small-space dweller like Sean McNally to give up what little closet space they possess, but if you work from home or are in desperate need of a distinct office space, this is a no-construction, no-cost renter's dream.
