TRUMP: 'You have to be a little bit nervous' by Colin Campbell on Feb 1, 2016, 8:02 AM Advertisement
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump expressed confidence on Monday that he would win the Iowa caucuses later in the day. But the famously self-assured billionaire did allow there to be some doubt. "You've never actually faced voters before. Are you nervous?" George Stephanopoulos asked Trump on ABC's "Good Morning America." "Well, you have to be a little bit nervous," Trump conceded. "I want to win for the country. I don't want to win for myself," he added. "And this is actually my first election night. I've gone through many election nights, but it was always for somebody else, George. This is a little bit different for me." In another interview, on NBC's "Today" show, host Savannah Guthrie directly asked Trump if he would predict a victory in the Iowa caucuses that night. Trump is leading in the polls of the state, although his closest primary rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), could be in striking distance. "No. I can't do that," he told Guthrie. "I mean, we've had the biggest crowds — bigger than anybody, bigger than Bernie, Bernie is second, I will say that — but the crowds have been incredible. I just don't know. I can't tell you that. I think so. The enthusiasm, Savannah, is incredible." Trump was also asked for his thoughts about his own chances on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." He said he was feeling good: Well, we're feeling very good. We have a lot of people. We have great support. We hope to do well. You know, I don't know. I can't tell you what's going to happen because it's an election, and the only poll that matters is the poll that's going to start in a little while. And it's going to be very interesting. Here we are after a long period of time. The day has finally arrived where we begin this really incredible process. So I look forward to it.
