Cimkiz Webcam Cover

  • It can't hurt to take a few more security precautions in your everyday life, starting with inexpensive webcam covers for your phone and laptop.
  • I recommend buying this 3-pack of webcam covers from Cimkiz for its low price, high reviews, and overall ease of use.
  • Once it's applied, you can slide these covers over your device's camera when it's not in use, and slide them off when you want to make a video call or take a selfie.

The tech community can get pretty divisive, but one thing most of us can agree on is that it can't hurt to take a few more security precautions.

Making sure you have a secure password, and avoiding random unlocked Wi-Fi networks are both great practices, but what about the fact that most of us are looking directly into the HD cameras built into our laptops and phones all day?

All of us have a friend — or are the friend! — with a piece of tape over their webcam, but what if there was a better solution?

There are several webcam cover slides out there, but I recommend picking up this 3-pack from Cimkiz for its low price, high reviews, and overall ease of use. Each cover slide comes with an adhesive sticker, which you peel off and stick to your device; all you have to do is line up the cover with the camera on your phone, tablet, or computer. If your gadget has a microphone next to the camera, make sure to place the cover on the opposite side.

Once it's applied, you can slide the cover over your device's camera when it's not in use, and slide it off when you want to make a video call or take a selfie.

Because it's only .027 thick, this cover isn't going to add any additional bulk or heft to your devices, and shouldn't get caught in your pocket or by the front of a sleeve or case.

For those who use screen protectors on their phone or tablet, there's usually a cutout around the camera section where you can stick this cover, if not, I don't see that making a huge difference. For laptop or all-in-one desktop users, that won't even be a consideration; just stick on the cover and you're all set.

Because these covers come as 3-pack, you can probably make all of your primary tech gadgets a little more secure for under $10. Even if you're not worried about being hacked, it couldn't hurt to take this inexpensive precaution just in case.
