Here's who was leading the polls in January in the past three election years — none of them made it to November

VIDEO: While Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are still dominating the primary race polls, history has proven that an early lead in the election year does not necessarily guarantee success. In the last three presidential election cycles, every candidate that led the polls in their respective primary races in January ended up dropping out by November.
