In January, the Mexico Citizens Council for Public Security released its annual ranking of the world's cities with the highest homicide rates. Four US cities made the top fifty list. Now, using data from the FBI for the first half of 2015, we have compiled a list of the most violent city in 43 states around the country. The data only considers cities that have a population of over 100,000. Therefore, states with cities that do not have populations over 100,000 were excluded from the FBI's data. Using information from the FBI, we have compiled the violent crime rate of each city per 10,000 residents. According to the FBI, violent crime includes rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and murder. The average US violent crime rate was roughly 36.6 offenses per 10,000 people in 2014. SEE ALSO: The 50 most violent cities in the world 43.
