The FBI is recommending that the Justice Department not bring charges against Hillary Clinton over her use of multiple private email servers while serving as secretary of state.

In a press conference on Tuesday, FBI Director James Comey said that the investigation yielded no evidence that Clinton had deliberately attempted to mislead investigators.

"We cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on this," Comey said.

Although Comey said there was no evidence to suggesting that work related emails were intentionally deleted, he offered a sharp criticism of Clinton's email practices.

"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences," Comey said.

"There is evidence that they were extremely careless in handling classified information," Comey said.

Comey also offered some of its findings to reporters:

  • 8 emails Clinton sent were classified top secret at the time they were sent
  • 36 of chains contained secret info
  • 8 contained confidential info (lowest level)
  • 2,000 additional emails up-classified to make confidential110 emails in 52 email chains have been determined to contain classified info at the time they were sent or received

The FBI interviewed Clinton on Saturday for over three hours.

This story will be updated.
