Hillary Clinton issued a fiery statement condemning Donald Trump for a tweet sent from his account over the weekend.

"Donald Trump's use of a blatantly anti-Semitic image from racist websites to promote his campaign would be disturbing enough, but the fact that it's part of a pattern should give voters major cause for concern," the statement read in part on Monday.

The tweet contained an image of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee with a badge next to it that read "Most Corrupt Candidate Ever!"

It was summarily denounced because of the badge's resemblance to the Star of David, which appears on Israel's flag and which Jews were forced to wear on their clothing by the Nazis during the Holocaust. The image apparently originated from a neo-Nazi website, according to NBC News.

The original tweet was deleted from Trump's account, and a modified version was sent out instead, replacing the Jewish symbol with a circle instead. In a follow-up tweet, Trump criticized "dishonest media" for not interpreting the symbol as a "sheriff's star, or plain star."

Here's Clinton's statement in full:

Donald Trump's use of a blatantly anti-Semitic image from racist websites to promote his campaign would be disturbing enough, but the fact that it's part of a pattern should give voters major cause for concern. Now, not only won't he apologize for it, he's peddling lies and blaming others. Trump should be condemning hate, not offering more campaign behavior and rhetoric that engages extremists. The president should be someone who brings Americans together, not someone who sends signals and offers policies of division.
