An average ticket to Game 7 of the World Series costs nearly $1,500 less than last year

This year's World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros has been one for the ages, and we still have one more game to go. Game 7 is set for Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, and you can still purchase your ticket — for the right price.

According to TicketIQ, an average ticket to Game 7 cost $2,534, as of Wednesday morning. That figure comes from secondary market sites like StubHub and SeatGeek, as the official channels have been sold out for weeks.

That's one expensive baseball game, but prices were even higher on the day of last year's Game 7 between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. With the Cubs on the verge of winning their first World Series in 108 years, the average ticket cost a whopping $3,973, nearly $1,500 more than this year's figure.

There have been other pricey Game 7s over the past several seasons, though none to the extent of those two. The deciding game of the 2014 World Series between the Royals and Giants averaged $1,578 a ticket, while the 2011 classic between the Rangers and Cardinals came in at just $948.

While MLB stages the most expensive elimination games on average, other leagues have also required hefty sums over the years. The average ticket to Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals cost $3,173, while the NHL's 2015 Eastern Conference Finals between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers cost $1,578.
