  • President Donald Trump wants to name the Republican tax reform bill "The Cut Cut Cut Act," according to ABC News.
  • Its name will ultimately be chosen by Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee, who are writing the legislation.
  • The bill is set to be released Thursday.

President Donald Trump reportedly is pushing for a simple name for the soon-to-be-released Republican tax reform bill, according to a new report.

Tara Palmeri at ABC News reported Wednesday that Trump wants the huge overhaul of the US tax code to be formally named "The Cut Cut Cut Act."

Control over the bill's name, however, is in the hands of House GOP leaders and the Republican members of the Ways and Means Committee. According to ABC, those members have not yet decided on what to call it.

According to ABC, Ways and Means Chair Kevin Brady and House Speaker Paul Ryan initially asked Trump for a name for the bill, but resisted when he suggested "The Cut Cut Cut Act." So far, Trump has stood firm on the name request, according to the report.

The bill is slated to be released Thursday after being delayed by the Ways and Means Committee by one day. Republicans writing the legislation are still debating over various provisions, including possible changes to 401(k) accounts and the state and local tax deduction.
