The violent protests followed US airstrikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq — strikes in retaliation for a rocket attack that killed a US citizen.

President Donald Trump has publicly blamed Iran for the unrest outside the US embassy in Baghdad and says they are going to pay "BIG" for the damage.

An Army spokeswoman told Military.com that the policy change was made because TikTok represented a "cyberthreat."

Since Trump withdrew the US from the deal, tensions between the US and Iran have steadily risen and reached a boiling point in recent months.

A war with Iran would likely be disastrous and further destabilize a region that's been consumed by conflict for years.

During a meeting with a foreign leader, Trump berated an adviser who told him that Putin had called days before. "Are you kidding me?" Trump said.

The UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab urged all sides to de-escalate following the US assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

Anti-American protesters covered the streets of Tehran on Friday, while leaders condemned the death of Qassem Soleimani and vowed to avenge him.

Two military leaders, including Iran's Quds force chief, Qassem Soleimani, were killed in an airstrike in Iraq, the US and local state media said.
