Beyoncé is getting her own athleisure line — here's when you can get it by Mallory Schlossberg on Nov 30, 2015, 1:53 PM Advertisement
Topshop's heavily anticipated partnership with Beyoncé has a release date, The Telegraph reports. The athleisure line, which was announced in 2014, will be available come April 2016. The line was originally scheduled to launch in 2015, according to a release on Topshop's website. "I could not think of a better partner … I have always loved Topshop for its fashion credentials and forward," Beyoncé said in Topshop's release at the time. “Working with its development team to create and produce a technical and fashion-led collection is exciting and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership." The operative word is "partnership." "This not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office," Topshop owner Sir Philip Green told Women's Wear Daily at the time of the announcement in 2014. Athleisure has become increasingly popular over the past few years, to the point that the trend has nearly displaced denim. Many retailers, from Abercrombie & Fitch to Dick's Sporting Goods, have entered the athleisure market. Partnering with one of the top celebrities in the world will likely help Topshop compete in the sector. Topshop has collaborated with celebrities, including Kate Moss, and recently, Kardashian-clan members Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Those women are certainly popular, but few entertainers have followings as loyal as Beyoncé does. SEE ALSO: H&M clothes are now selling for thousands of dollars on eBay |
