An official account for the tech giant showed up on the social media platform Thursday night. Apple already has a handful of accounts in its name, including @AppleSupport, which launched earlier this year, plus @AppleNews and @AppleMusic. Some observers speculated about what Apple's new account might mean for Twitter. The company has floundered in recent years while rivals like Facebook and Snapchat experienced rapid growth. Twitter's struggles have given oxygen to rumors that it could eventually be scooped up by another company.
