Apple adds its top advertiser to its executive leadership page by Kif Leswing on May 2, 2016, 10:03 AM Advertisement
Last December, Apple hired Tor Myhren from Grey Worldwide to be its VP of marketing communications. It's a senior role, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook, and on Monday, Apple made it official, adding Myhren to the senior leadership page on its website. Myhren is generally in charge of Apple's brand. He signs off on display advertising like billboards, packaging, and other marketing communications. He replaced Hiroki Asai, an 18-year Apple veteran who retired last year and was known as one of the executives most in tune with what former CEO Steve Jobs liked and disliked. At Grey, he tripled the size of its flagship office to 1,000 staff members and was the creative mastermind behind the E*Trade talking baby. Apple is in the process of moving much of its advertising out of longtime partner Media Arts Lab into an internal "marcom" division. Recently, Apple produced a hit ad starring Taylor Swift in-house, for example. Myhren looks sharp in his official headshot wearing a subtle camouflage sweater over a shirt and tie. Here's Apple's official bio: Tor Myhren is Apple’s vice president of Marketing Communications, reporting to CEO Tim Cook.
Tor joined Apple in 2016 from Grey, where he was president and worldwide chief creative officer. As head of the Marketing Communications group, Tor leads a talented and creative team focused on Apple’s advertising, internet presence, package design and other consumer-facing marketing.
A two-time TED speaker, Tor has been named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, Fortune’s 40 Under 40, AdAge's Creativity 50 honoring the world's 50 most influential creative minds, and was inducted into the Advertising Federation of America's Hall of Achievement.
Tor is a former journalist and award-winning documentary filmmaker. He holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Occidental College. SEE ALSO: Taylor Swift's Apple ad skyrocketed Drake's music sales 431% |
