Fox TV station in Baltimore evacuated after bomb threat apparently made by man in furry suit

by Reuters and Dan Turkel on Apr 28, 2016, 3:31 PM

Offices of the Fox Baltimore television affiliate WBFF were evacuated after a bomb threat and fire on Thursday, the station reported.

WBAL reporter Jayne Miller reported that the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a white suit, was shot by police but was seen moving.

WBFF news director Mike Tomko told WBAL that it wasn't unusual for people to visit the news station in person to advocate for various causes, but that this man was wearing a mask and sunglasses and said that he had a bomb. The man had handed a security guard a flash drive which contained videos of the man speaking about government conspiracies.

Firefighters put out a fire which appeared to have been set in the gas tank of a vehicle parked in the station lot, the station said on its website.

It said that according to its security guard a suspect threatened to "blow up" the building.

Staff leaving the building saw a man standing in the building's vestibule who seemed to be wearing a bulky suit of some kind, the station reported.

A police spokeswoman said officers were investigating.
