Microsoft is well-positioned to take the lead in the growing healthcare cloud market

Microsoft recently launched Azure Health Data Services—an extension of their 2020 Cloud for Healthcare solution—to further boost interoperability and expand the company's healthcare cloud strategy across data, AI, and clinician experiences.

In the 2022 Nutanix Annual Enterprise Cloud Survey of 250 IT professionals, 27% of the respondents said they were already deploying cloud tech, and 51% said they're planning to increase cloud usage in the next three years.

Given the expectations for growth, it's no surprise that other big cloud players—such as Amazon, Google Cloud, and Salesforce—are forging partnerships with major healthcare companies to fight their way into the space.

That said, Microsoft is uniquely positioned to take the lead in this market, as its healthcare cloud service "places a major emphasis on interoperability—something that's been a major pain point for providers," said Rhea Patel, analyst at Insider Intelligence.
